Jacqueline Woodson on the value of reading deeply and slowly

Some people are fast readers. Some people are slow readers. Either one is fine! But sometimes, sometimes, when we read (either quickly or slowly), we miss things, because we're seeing the words but not really reading them, considering them. Jacqueline Woodson, an extraordinarily prolific writer, speaks to this in this fabulous TedTalk. It's only ten minutes long, and I strongly encourage you to watch it. As you do, consider her words, and think about this: when you read, do you read words, or do you read ideas and stories and concepts?
