Happy (belated) February, everyone! This month we have a super cool thing going on called Blind Date with a Book!
But Librarian Chelimsky, what is Blind Date with a Book?! (I hear you ask)
Blind Date with a Book is an opportunity to try a book which you might not have picked out on your own. Often we only take out books from one or two sections of the library. Other times we don't notice a book because the cover isn't exciting, or is a bit old fashioned. But when we do that, we often miss the chance to find new books which we would love, if only we'd give them a chance! Blind Date with a Book helps you overcome that problem and potentially meet a fabulous new book.
On one of the tables in the library, you will find a number of books wrapped in brown paper and tied with a string. Each of those books has a quote on the cover. The quotes come from the books themselves and are intended to give you a little taste of what might be within the pages! Once you've found one which sounds interesting, bring it to the desk to check it out. Only then will you be allowed to untie the string keeping the title hidden from you! All we ask is that you then give the book a real try. You might be surprised what great books you'll find if you do.
