John Green on How and Why We Read

Why do we read? What is a story? Why do people sometimes suggest that reading a story is more valid that listening to a story? [a note, dear readers: oral tradition and oral storytelling are super important!] How much does an author's intent matter when it comes to what we (the readers) see in a book? How does the complexity of language make stories so much better?

In this week's video, John Green (yes, that John Green, author of tons of really beloved YA books) discusses these questions and much more in his video, How and Why We Read: Crash Course English Literature #1! If you enjoy this video, I highly recommend checking out other videos in the Crash Course series!
